Why The Giants Can Win The Superbowl
Its half hour before game time, and although it is hard to sway away from the dominating patriots ruunning away with the game, some erie dejavue keeps creeping into my mind. The pregame keeps focusing on the passing attack of the patriots. Brady is too good, they have two many talented receivers to cover, and the giants Webster starting at cb is weak. Well, this is exactly what we have been hearing about the Giants all year. Early season they were torched through the air by Dallas and Greenbay, but Coughlin has been set on maintaining one on one physical coverage as the way to defend the spread offences a top the league. And down the stretch, it has paid off. " The cowboys have beaten them twice and their pass attack is too good" said the critics going into the divisional round. And the giants corners shut down the Romo, the owens, the terry glenn, and the witten. Then into the cold tundra of greenbay, "Brett Farve and his young athletic receieving core are too good, and will light up webster, and the giants secondary." Yet in the cold of Lambaugh, Farve, jennings, Driver and jones all came up short. And now into New England, where the ranting raves about "Brady to Moss, Welker Stallworth, Gaffney, Watson" This spread offence is what the Giants secondary has been training to stop all season with their bump and run physical play. And sure there is the potential for the big play, but that goes both ways (ala interception to win the game at greenbay). The x factor here is randy moss, who is arguably uncoverable, but for the Giant defence, tight coverage and run blitz are the keys to victory. And with a maturing manning at the offensive helm, with the inside knowledge from brother Peyton backing him up, this game could be one for the ages.
